1. Ensure that you send a completed and signed Organisation Information Sheet, an accompanying letter (please refer to note 2) setting out the project or work for which funding is required and any supporting materials providing information in relation to your organisation and/or the project you believe to be relevant.
2. Accompanying letter guidance
(a) General Applications – Limit the size of your letter detailing the project or work to two pages.
(b) Medical Research Applications - Along with a fully presented and argued Medical Research Application you should provide a summary in layman’s terms.
3. Have your letter read by someone not directly involved with your application, to ensure that it is focused and includes all the information needed to enable the Trustees to grasp fully what they are being asked to support.
4. Ensure that you have taken time to digest the Trust’s Guidelines before finalising your application – and remember to check the Trust’s website from time to time as the Guidelines are likely to be changed in the light of experience.
5. Demonstrate both an awareness of the current economic climate and your organisation’s capacity to sustain current and proposed activities.
6. Finally, please enclose a copy of your charity’s most recent accounts. Where these are more than six months out of date at the applications submission deadline you should submit along with these accounts the most recent management accounts. You may be asked to produce up-to-date management accounts and budgets prior to the Trust’s final determination of your application.
